Its been fun, boring, exciting, and dull i did a lot more than i thought, but a lot less than i hoped. It went by so fast i can't believe its gone already. I havent been baking very much at home this summer since i've been working a few days a week at a bakery near my house. Its a good job, but nothing like baking at home. Well the good thing about summer being over is that fall is just around the corner! I love fall it might be my favorite season. There is nothing like the brisk fall air swirling the fallen leaves at your feet aaaahhh its just the best. It also puts me in the mood to make lots and lots of warm foods. Now i dont mean temperature wise but spice warmth- cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, clove, ginger, pumpkin, molasses, apples, everything really i just love it. A lot of my best recipes are from fall so be prepared im coming back full swing as soon as the first fall day hits :DKatiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10493849989885595836noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6098624995122799981.post-55905206303387210572009-07-09T22:28:00.001-07:002009-07-09T22:28:40.904-07:00Katiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10493849989885595836noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6098624995122799981.post-78939410585129036282009-01-28T17:05:00.000-08:002009-02-13T07:12:34.688-08:00
Candy Hearts and Sappy Valentine Cards are Here

There are now two weeks until Valentine's Day. For some, this is a romantic day full of chocolate, roses, fancy dinner reservations, and heart shaped diamonds. For others, it is a day to wear your sweats, watch tragic, romantic comedies while crying into a pint of Haagen Dazs ice cream hating your life. Then there are the people that shrug it off and dismiss it as a frivolous Hallmark Holiday invented by greeting card companies and flower shops to get people to buy things. I am somewhat in the middle of all these groups. I think that it is an okay holiday when it comes to cards, which I despise, and flowers, which die in two days, but when it comes to the chocolate and desserts, I am all for Valentines Day. I love the idea of getting a box of chocolates or eating a cupcake full of heart sprinkles, but my favorite might be chocolate covered strawberries, I absolutely adore them. So, if you are a part of the dessert movement for Valentines Day but don't want to make anything yourself, I am now at your service. I will be adding strawberry, raspberry, candy hearts, chocolate and many more V day desserts in the next few weeks, and any special requests you may have I will be glad to accommodate. In my opinion, there is nothing better than sweets from your special someone on Valentines Day. It automatically gives you permision to be bad and indulge on something special because they gave it to you, and after all you do have to be polite by eating it. Right?
Katiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10493849989885595836noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6098624995122799981.post-33847303885018303372009-01-01T00:00:00.000-08:002009-01-01T00:00:02.273-08:00
It's 2009! I really don't see the new year as exciting, I don't go to parties, set off fireworks, or watch the ball "drop," which by the way really annoys me, if they say drop they should drop it not just make it slide down a big pole, how not exciting is that, nothing even breaks! But I digress. I have been baking like crazy the past month, and even in some extreme cases cooking, not exactly my forte, but everything was pretty good. I made an amazing red velvet cheesecake for Christmas that almost looked too good to eat, well almost. I went on a baking hiatus for a while, but then after Christmas I went on some kind of crazy ice cream and macaroon streak, which is evident on my Flickr page, that is now loaded with new pictures. I guess I just can't give up baking for long; sorry to all of you poor recipe testers in my art class out there but it looks like you will be getting a lot of new sweets this month. But, back to the subject of the new year, I would like to tackle the tradition of new year's resolutions. I think a lot of people use them to make up for all the food they ate over the holiday season with crazy diets they follow for about a month. I just don't see the point of it all, but for fun of it I have come up with a few of my own resolutions:

1. Make a lot of desserts (I just wanted a goal I knew I could accomplish)
2. Make molded chocolates (I know boring, but it is a goal)
3. Master spun sugar (insert evil laugh here)
4. Share desserts with as many people as I possibly can (until you are all in a sugar coma)
5. Make atleast 5 new desserts each month (that's not so much a goal but a limit:)
6. Get through school (hopefully with my sanity still intact)
7. Be less cynical (unlike everything else I have written)
8. Resist the (pathetic) temptation to make my own birthday cake, unless I can get other people to eat it with me
9. Get a life (Who am I kidding, but fingers crossed I have a whole year)
10. Find better goals for next year

Katiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10493849989885595836noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6098624995122799981.post-90645635567817214712008-12-01T13:44:00.000-08:002008-12-02T15:52:35.088-08:00The Holidays are Here

The holidays have somehow crept up on us this year faster than usual. All of the sudden we have been thrown into mall Santas and maxing out credit cards when yesterday we were just stuffing ourselves with turkey and pumpkin pie. However, this means a new array of desserts are just waiting to be enjoyed. This means cool crisp flavors as well as warming favorites will be gracing the pages of my website and maybe your table. In comes the peppermint, cranberry, orange, chocolate, sugar cookies, ginger cookies, thumbprint cookies, truffles, and many more delicious holiday favorites.
Katiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10493849989885595836noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6098624995122799981.post-23553886548097141752008-10-18T05:33:00.000-07:002008-11-16T16:03:17.401-08:00Fall Baking

Spiced Pumpkin Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting

It's finally fall! Fall is my favorite season of the year, next to winter. I love the leaves, the cool, brisk air, and the wonderful baked goods! I love all the food of the fall season. How can you go wrong with pumpkin, pecans, and cinnamon? It's a classic and warming combination of ingredients that fill me with excitement. I have collected some of my favorite fall cakes, cookies, etc. in my holiday baking section. These items are perfect for any occasion whether it be a family gathering, or just a fall sweet tooth. If you have anything you would like to have that isn't listed, I would be more than happy to find the perfect recipe and make it for you. This fall don't just pick up pumpkin pie from walmart or the freezer section (shudder), instead make your fall season the best it can be and take one of these baked goods with you to the Thanksgiving dessert table! I have been giving and sharing my cookies, pastries, and cakes with people since I started baking. Now, it's getting to the point that I bake something every weekend and then give it away the next week. I have had more and more people tell me that I should sell what I bake. So, I thought, why not. Thus, I will now be attempting to "start my own business" if you want to call it that. I have put a menu of what I will be offering on this website and pictures of some of the baked goods that I have made. I will only be able to bake on the weekends mostly, since I'm still in school, and I will have to limit the amount of orders I can fill. If you want something baked for a specific date please try to give a week or two advanced notice. If you want something that is not listed, just ask me and I will see if I can do it. I hope this will help cure my baking sickness and your sweet tooth!

Katiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10493849989885595836noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6098624995122799981.post-28222198271181078582008-09-11T14:56:00.001-07:002009-04-05T05:37:52.139-07:00Menu
Cookies

Chocolate Chip Cookies- homemade chocolate chip cookies crisp on the outside and chewy on the inside.

Sugar Cookies- Soft, chewy sugar cookies not too sweet and extremely addicting

Outrageous Chocolate Cookies- full of chocolate in every bite very rich, chocolate cookies light and crisp on the outside and soft like a brownie on the inside

Coconut Jam Thumbprints- rolled in coconut and filled with raspberry or apricot jam in the middle

No bake cookies- always a favorite, chocolate peanut butter oat cookies

Chocolate monster cookies- monster cookies full of chocolate and cashews

Peanut Butter Sandwich Cookies- soft yet crunchy peanut butter cookies are sandwiched with a peanut butter, marshmallow filling that enhances the peanut butter taste and add a luscious smooth texture

Melting Moments- a shortbread cookie that literally melts in your mouth coated with cinnamon scented powdered sugar, perfect one bite cookie (makes about 2 dozen 1-2 inch cookies)

Pumpkin Cookies- a huge pillow of fluffly pumpkin accented with the flavors of pumpkin pie studded with the smooth flavor of white chocolate chips, absolutely delicious

Sugar Crusted Ginger Chewies- this cookie has all the elements of a delicious gingersnap cookie full of rich bold flavors with an added element of a chewy center and a crust of sweet raw sugar on the outside, perfect for the holiday season

Cakes and Cheesecakes and Pie

Root beer bundt Cake - a densely delicious chocolate cake accented with notes of root beer, topped off with fudgy chocolate, root beer frosting (10 inch bundt, feeds 12-16)

Super Moist Chocolate Cake with Peanut Butter Frosting- this amazingly decadent cake is an absolute must for all those chocolate peanut butter lovers birthdays' or just any occasion.
